CFA’s Newest Club for Ragdoll Breeders & Fanciers

Constitution & Bylaws


This organization shall be known as RAGDOLL BREED CLUB

This organization shall be a nonprofit club affiliated with the Cat Fanciers Association, Inc. No part of any profit, dues, or donations to the organization shall be used to the benefit of any member or individual.

1. To promote the welfare of all cats,
2. To promote the breeding of pedigreed Ragdolls to the standards as accepted by CFA,
3. To promote the health and welfare of the Ragdoll cat,
4. To promote the showing of Ragdolls in CFA,
5. To provide information and education on CFA procedures so that members can fully participate in all CFA Activities,
6. To create and maintain a web site with an electronic bulletin board for educational purposes and to keep members up to date on current events within CFA,
7. To promote Ragdoll breeders to join the CFA Ragdoll Breed Council,
8. To promote Ragdoll breeders to register ALL Ragdoll progeny with CFA.

Ragdoll breeders interested in the objectives of this organization shall be eligible for membership.

The officers of this organization shall be a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and 3 Directors. These seven (7) individuals shall be elected by the membership and serve as the Executive Board.

Meetings shall be as noted in the By-laws.

Annual dues shall be payable on a yearly basis from the date that the member joins. The amount of dues shall be provided for in the By-laws.

In the event of the dissolution of this organization, any property and assets shall be distributed to the Winn Foundation, a non-profit organization affiliated with the Cat Fanciers Association, Inc. In no event shall any such property or assets be distributed to any member of the organization or to any private individual.

This Constitution and the accompanying By-laws may be amended by a simple majority vote of the membership. All proposed amendments will be provided to the membership with the rationale for the amendment one (1) week prior to the vote.


Any person interested in promoting Ragdoll cats in CFA may qualify for membership in Ragdoll Breed Club (herein after “RBC”) Regular membership is open to individuals who will promote the objectives of RBC as stated in the RBC Constitution. Regular members have all privileges of membership including the right to vote and hold office.

Honorary membership shall be granted from time to time to deserving individuals who have made significant contributions to the Ragdoll breed and RBC. Honorary members may not vote or hold office.

Each member is strongly encouraged to fully participate in CFA activities including showing/exhibiting, registering catteries, Ragdoll cats and all progeny. RBC encourages the obtaining of certified Cattery of Excellence ratings from CFA and if qualified joining the CFA Ragdoll Breed Council.

Application for membership must be made on the RBC Membership Application form and accompanied by one years dues. The application and dues must be sent to the RBC Secretary.

Because the RBC membership is from all parts of the world, there are no formal, physical meetings scheduled. The Executive Board may call for meetings as deemed necessary.

The Executive Board of RBC may hold an electronic Board meeting every 2 months to discuss Club business. Special meeting may be called by the President at any time. Five Board members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.

Elections for Officers, Board members and delegates to the Cat Fanciers’ Association, Inc. annual meeting will be held in November of each even numbered year. The term of office is two years.

The RBC Secretary shall call for declarations to run for office within the time period of October 10-20. The names and office of all candidates shall be posted on the electronic bulletin board on the RBC website by October 22nd. Uncontested offices shall be considered to be elected by acclamation and need not be on the ballot.

Election Procedures shall be as follows: Ballots for the elections of Officers and Executive Board, shall be sent by electronic mail to each RBC member by November 1. They must be returned to a teller selected by the Executive Board who is not involved in the election by November 30. Winning candidates shall be posted on the RBC website as soon as the results are available. All winning candidates shall take office on January 1 of the odd-numbered year.

A vacancy occurring in any office shall be filled by the Executive Board.

A member may only hold one office at a time, and no two persons in a family may hold office at the same time.

Shall serve as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and conduct all meetings.
Shall appoint committees as needed
Will keep members informed of proceedings within CFA by posting a bi-monthly article on the RBC web site.

Vice President:
Shall preside in the absence of the President
Shall be the Chairperson of the Membership Committee
Shall be the Director of Education

Shall serve as the contact person for CFA
Shall be responsible for conducting all elections
Shall handle all membership applications and forward all dues money to the Treasurer
Shall maintain a data base for the club for tracking all Ragdolls shown in CFA
Shall be responsible for all correspondence

Receives and banks all RBC money
Shall keep accurate records of all receipts and expenditures
Shall open a bank account in the name of the club
Shall prepare a financial report of the club’s finances at the end of each year, and post it on the RBC web site for the members
Pays all club obligations upon receiving receipts and will keep all receipts for two years
Submits the financial books for audit at any time, at the request of the President

Shall serve in whatever capacity that the President shall decide
Will serve as chairpersons of various committees that the President may appoint

The annual dues shall be $30.00 for individuals, $40.00 for individuals & spouse,
Honorary members shall pay no dues.

Section A Enforcement
It shall be the duty of the Executive Board to enforce the Constitution and the By-laws of the RBC. The Board may reprimand, suspend or expel from membership any person who, after a fair hearing, is found guilty of conduct detrimental or harmful to RBC, the welfare of cats, or the cat fancy.

Section B Procedure:
All charges must be in writing and a copy of the charges shall be furnished to the accused at least 10 days prior to the hearing date. The Executive Board may conduct a hearing itself or appoint a committee to conduct the hearing. The decision of the majority of the Executive Board or the committee shall be binding on all parties.

The By-laws may be amended as provided for in the Constitution.
